Nowhere Land is a kinetic landscape of form made from high-density foam and suspended at eye-level. This distorted disc shape contains individual micro-forms en masse - each one subtly pinned so that it appears to hover over the disc’s curved surface.

The distance between surfaces allows the play of light to disperse reflection onto the surrounding landscape, adding to the overall appearance of weightlessness and fragility. As if in communication with themselves the micro-forms shimmer on their pins, helped by any close encounter of vibration.

The concept of this work taps into the idea of ‘space habitation’ and the imminent encounters humans might face within a new language of form, surface and materials in zero gravity.

Nowhere Land as a physical object is just hovering, pure in colour with no direction of place. It acts as a reference for my other work.
